The Atlanta Braves and their fans were on edge for more than one reason on Tuesday night with Ozzie Albies leaving the game with an injury.

This season has been a rough one for major injuries to the game’s best players as the Atlanta Braves have witnessed with Ronald Acuna Jr.

You could say that the three best players in the game have all missed significant time this year in Mike Trout, Jacob deGrom, and Acuna Jr.

It’s really put a major damper on this baseball season as a fan.

And a Braves fan, they’ve not only seen their best hitter go down but also maybe their best starting pitcher in Mike Soroka who won’t pitch at all in 2021.

So when Ozzie Albies got carried off the field at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night, you can understand why most Braves fans were expecting the worst.

All of us in our Tomahawk Take group chat were already discussing potential replacements for Ozzie just knowing he was done for the season.

But as the Braves were blowing a late lead to the Dodgers on Tuesday night, we were at least getting some good news on Ozzie.

X-rays on his left knee were negative and Ozzie is considered day-to-day and may not even need a stint on the IL.

That’s obviously great news for the Braves. As I wrote last week, I believe Ozzie is the X-factor on offense for this team the rest of the season.

When he is going well, this offense tends to score a lot of runs. Of course, I also believe he needs to be moved out of the leadoff spot.

Brian Snitker says he probably will miss the next couple of games, which means we may not see him back until Friday against the Colorado Rockies.

In the meantime, Ehire Adrianza will probably get the nod at second. But the Braves will be adding two more to the roster on Wednesday with September call-ups. I would not be surprised if one of those additions is either Jason Kipnis or Orlando Arcia.

Either way, the Braves seem to have avoided major disaster after Ozzie gave us all a huge scare in Tuesday’s game.
