PORT CHARLOTTE, FLORIDA – MARCH 21: William Contreras is the new Atlanta Braves catcher (Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images)

The future has arrived for the Atlanta Braves.

William Contreras is now the guy behind the plate for the Atlanta Braves.

He will be the everyday catcher for this team for the rest of this season, and most likely the next few seasons to come. The best part is….he looks ready!

He has come out of the gate hot and on Wednesday launched his first (of hopefully many) career home runs. I know it is a small sample size, but he has went four for ten at the plate so far.

The only question many of us have, is why wasn’t he the guy to back up d’Arnaud at the beginning of the season? I think most would have said it was obvious he was the better candidate for the job, but none the less, here we are.

Again, the time is now for Contreras to take over the catching duties of the Atlanta Braves.

The same two teams finish up the series on Wednesday LATE afternoon. Thanks Nationals, for these 4:00 PM ET get away game start times by the way.

Let’s hope Smyly can bring his best game thus far and complete the sweep for the Atlanta Braves who are inching back up on one of the top two spots in the NL East.

Let us know in the comment section below what your main takeaway’s from Wednesday’s game were.
