2. What are the umpires looking at?

It’s a tough job. I get it. Heck, I did it for little league many years ago and I know it is not easy.

However, the umpires are professionals — just like the players — and for better or worse remain an integral part of the game.  But so far in the 2021 season, it feels as if umpires have it out for the Atlanta Braves team.

I tend to not be one of those people who just rag on officiating (although it does seem that way after these few paragraphs, huh?) but they need to straighten it up some.  Seemingly every borderline call has gone against the Atlanta Braves so far.

Is it bad luck, or the way the ball bounces if you will? Perhaps? It will probably even out in the long run even, but for right now it is making the Atlanta Braves job of winning baseball games that much more difficult.

Balls being called strikes, and strikes for our pitchers are being called balls. It seems to be only a matter of time before an obvious replay does not go our way. Besides, it would not be the first time something like that has happened before.

The bottom line is I do not know if any game would have been a difference (though some of these Umpire Scorecards might beg to differ). It is very possible umpires really made a difference on the Easter Sunday loss, but we will truly never know.

Hopefully, they take a little notice and just become a little more balanced. That is really all we can ask for.
