Ehire Adrianza announced on his Instagram that he has legally become a United States citizen!

There was some concern when it was announced a few days ago that the Atlanta Braves had placed Ehire Adrianza on the injured list. It was even more troubling when it was announced that it was personal reasons.

After only one plate appearance, what had happened to Adrianza?

It seems we may have our answer as Adrainza posted this on his Instagram..

Adrianza is now an official citizen of the United States of America! That is an amazing accomplishment.

I think that is a great reason to miss a few games.

Especially with how difficult and time consuming the process can be to earn citizenship.

Here is what Adrianza had to say about the moment on his Instagram, “First of all, I want to thank God for this moment, show appreciation to this country that has given me the opportunity to work, prosper as a human being and as a professional baseball player; I will always be grateful for the endless opportunities for me and my family within the difficult profession.”

That sounds like a humble man who understands that baseball is just a game, but it can provide him with opportunities like no other.

The Venezuelan born baseball player was originally signed by the San Francisco Giants in 2006 and would play for the first time in the United States as a part of the Giants organization in 2008.

He would eventually debut with the Giants in 2013 where he would play until 2016 before leaving for the Minnesota Twins. After four years with the Twins organization, the Braves invited him to spring training in 2021, where he would make the team with an impressive spring.

In 40 ABs this spring, Adrianza slashed .400/.500/.700 with two home runs, twelve RBIs, and nine runs. This earned him a spot on the Braves bench in 2021 over guys like Johan Camargo, Jason Kipnis, and a few others.

Adrianza has always been more of a glove first guy who can provide the Braves with defense off the bench at any infield position and the corner outfield spots in a pinch.

Hopefully, Adrianza is a big contributor to the Braves in 2021 as they make a push for the World Series.

Since he did leave the team, he will have to go through Covid protocols before being allowed to rejoin the team.

I am sure the Braves will be fine without him for a few days. Let him celebrate this accomplishment!

Congratulations to Ehire Adrianza on becoming a United States citizen!
