As the 2021 MLB season kicks off in mere hours, and with it a resemblance of normalcy once again, we have decided to throw all of our predictions into the fire so they can make us all look foolish come October once again.
This article will include most of the writers here 2021 MLB predictions. Let you be forewarned, there might be some Atlanta Braves bias included, but hey that’s ok.
I have asked everyone to give me the following:
- AL and NL MVP
- AL and NL Cy Young award winners
- AL and NL Rookie of the years
- All division and wild card winners
- World Series predictions
- Both leagues most disappointing team.
Let’s get right to it shall we?
NOTE: All other writer’s predictions and reasons are there own individual words.
James Kunkle
- AL MVP- Mike Trout. I like to go against the grain as much as anyone with these types of picks and not go with the favorite, but how do you bet against this man? You simply can’t.
- NL MVP- Mookie Betts. I would love to go with Acuna or Freddie, but Mookie is poised to simply put up huge numbers for that Dodgers team, and let’s not act like playing in LA will not help his chances.
- AL Cy Young- Lucas Giolito. Giolito has electric stuff and will amass a high strikeout rate. Also, should rack up wins behind a good White Sox team.
- NL Cy Young- Jack Flaherty. Remember that going against the favorite thing? Seriously though, Flaherty should bounce back in 2021 and should feast on some subpar offenses in the NL Central.
- AL ROY- Randy Arozarena– The AL ROY race should be fantastic but how do you bet against this guy after what he did in October?
- NL ROY- Ian Anderson– I though about Pache, but again after seeing what Ian did last season, I expect a good year from him.
- AL East- Yankees
- AL Central- White Sox
- AL West- Angels
- NL East- Mets
- NL Central- Cardinals
- NL West- Dodgers
- AL Wild Cards- Twins and Blue Jays
- NL Wild Cards- Braves and Padres
- World Series- White Sox over Padres
- Biggest disappointment teams- Oakland A’s and Milwaukee Brewers
Kyle Walter
- AL MVP- Mike Trout. Old reliable
- NL MVP- Juan Soto. I think Soto will explode in 2021.
- AL Cy Young- Shane Bieber. Bieber was fantastic last year and I expect the same this season.
- NL Cy Young- Jacob deGrom. Do not need to say much here.
- AL ROY- Bobby Dalbec. He was on fire in spring training and was good in limited action last year.
- NL ROY- Ian Anderson. A bit of a homer pick here but I think Ian will continue to be excellent.
- AL East- Rays
- AL Central- White Sox
- AL West- Astros
- NL East- Braves
- NL Central- Cardinals
- NL West- Dodgers
- AL Wild Cards- Yankees and A’s
- NL Wild Cards- Padres and Mets
- World Series- Braves over Rays
