This week, the podcast peers into the future to gauge the Atlanta Braves 2021 season as Opening Day is finally upon us!

In the grand scheme of things, Opening Day for the Atlanta Braves still represents just one game out of the 162 games that represent a full season.

But there’s still something different about it.  It’s the first game.  It’s the first one that counts.  It’s a game where most of the starters (the position players, at least) expect to play 9 full innings.

It’s a change of season, too:  even as the calendar tells us that “Spring” has barely begun, the Boys of Summer have effectively declared that Spring is over and we’re moving straightaway into Summer.

The Atlanta Braves are ready to prove they can be a 162 game force.

This year especially, though:  it’s an attempt to restore something normal about the baseball season and American life in general.

Last year, Opening Day came on July 24th.  In retrospect, we kinda have to feel lucky that it happened at all.

Even this year, with looming labor negotiations to occupy the Winter months to come, we have to hope that things don’t completely come off the rails… a situation that could result in delayed baseball in 2022.

But today…. we have baseball back and we have optimism that a full season can happen.

So with that, the podcasters — Jake and Fred by themselves this time — go through a set of predictions about who will drive this club to greatness and how far they might progress in their pursuit of a World Series title.

Who will be the team’s MVP?  Who might compete for league MVP or Cy Young awards?  There are a couple of obvious Rookie of the Year candidates… how will they fare?

Perhaps more importantly, what are the weaknesses of this Braves teams that may have to be addressed along the way?

So give a listen and see if you agree or disagree — and here’s the ways to listen to the guys this week:
