Braves vs. Phillies: Saturday’s Pitching Matchup (Morton vs. Wheeler)

Another starter the Braves are very familiar with from Zack Wheeler’s days in New York and now Philadelphia.

The Smyrna, GA native is 6-5 against the Braves in his career with a 3.79 ERA in 97.1 innings with 86 strikeouts.

Freddie has owned the righty in his career with 17 hits in 35 at-bats (.486 average) with 2 home runs, 13 walks, and 9 strikeouts.

Ronnie also has a pair of home runs against Wheeler is 6-for-19 against him.

Ozzie and Dansby have really struggled against Wheeler hitting a combined 4-for-34 (.118) off him.

Charlie Morton will make his return to the mound with the Braves on Saturday in Philadelphia.

His lifetime numbers against the Phillies aren’t great, but I’m going to assume most of that was in his first stint in Atlanta when Charlie hadn’t figured it out.

He did make a start last season against the Phillies and gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits and a walk over 5 innings with 8 strikeouts.

Not surprisingly, Harper (6-for-10, 1 HR) and Realmuto (3-for-11) have good numbers against Morton as well.

Braves vs. Phillies: Sunday’s Pitching Matchup (Anderson vs. Eflin)

Eflin missed two weeks of Spring Training but threw 65 pitches in his last outing. Still, if the Braves can get to him early he could get a quick hook.

He’s been really good against Atlanta though with a 3.48 ERA in 9 starts and 39 strikeouts in 51.2 innings.

TDA, Freeman, and Ozuna are a combined 6-for-37 (.162) against the righty. This could be a good day for TDA to take a breather even with the off-day on Friday.

Ronnie (4-for-12, 1 HR), Ozzie (3-for-12, 1 HR), and Dansby (6-for-14, 1HR) have had the most success off Eflin.

Ender is actually the only Braves player with multiple home runs against Eflin.

Ian Anderson did not make a start against the Phillies last year in his big league debut. Matt Joyce is the only player on the Phillies roster that has faced him and he’s 1-for-5 with 3 strikeouts off him.
