In a recent exercise by MLB Pipeline, they drafted the 25 best players under the age of 25 and the Atlanta Braves were favored heavily in the draft.
If you wonder why I get so angry that the front office of the Atlanta Braves isn’t doing more to win a World Series, it’s because they’re in such a unique situation with young talent that is very inexpensive.
That’s that situation every franchise dreams of — having elite young talent on the cheap that you can build around.
The Braves haven’t done enough to capitalize on this situation, but you can read more on my rant about that here.
Braves Featured in Best 25 Under 25 Draft
Let’s focus on the positive with the Braves having four of the best players in all of baseball under the age of 25.
MLB Pipeline recently drafted the best 25 under 25.
Ronald Acuna Jr. was drafted third, following the theme of this entire offseason with people ranking Juan Soto and Fernando Tatis Jr. ahead of him.
I still don’t understand why Ronnie has fallen behind those two when he’s the only one of the three that is a true five-tool player. Ronnie is going to make them all look dumb in 2021 and I can’t wait to watch it happen.
Ozzie Albies and Mike Soroka were taken back-to-back at picks 16 and 17.
This will be the last year for Ozzie on this list as he’ll turn the old age of 25 next January.
His 2020 season was wrecked by a wrist injury, so he’s looking for a bounce-back year in 2021.
You could say the same for Soroka who missed most of 2020 and will likely start the 2021 season on the IL.
Both of them have the chance to make multiple All-Star appearances in their careers.
And then Cristian Pache was taken with the 23rd pick, giving the Braves four players taken in the 25 under 25 MLB Pipeline Draft.
The Padres and White Sox both had three players on this list, but Atlanta was the only team with four.
As for Pache, we know he has the potential to be an elite defensive center fielder, whether or not he becomes an above-average hitter will determine if he turns into an All-Star type player.
Either way, the Braves are in great shape for now and the future with all of the young talent they have coming up. Enjoy it, Braves fans, you don’t get an influx of top talent like this from your farm system at the same time very often.
