In our 4th podcast of the new year, we note the passing of a true Atlanta Braves and MLB giant:  Hank Aaron.  One can only hope that the best stories of his career and life have been captured for posterity.

There’s another man worthy of more than a few stories about his coaching career that we talk about this week on the podcast, too:  Leo Mazzone.  Oddly, most of these discussions seem to involve Greg Maddux.

We didn’t bother recounting such tales this week, but we do discuss both men, and while Aaron clearly heads up the Mount Rushmore of Braves baseball, rockin’ Leo wasn’t exactly insignificant in his own right.

(Of course, many of Leo’s stories have to be filtered a bit for content given that we try to maintain a modest bit of decorum and family-friendliness!)

In any case, it’s been a lengthy pause, but Mazzone is finally being recognized by the franchise as one of their Hall of Famers.  It’s about darned time.

The Atlanta Braves family lost a giant in Hank Aaron last week.

Fred and Alan discuss these things, and then finally add our two cents of frustration about the slow slog that is this off-season.  Jake was out this week — for a good reason that we noted early in the recording.

As always, thank you for listening — hopefully it is useful as we attempt to share our own “Takes” about the Atlanta Braves news of the day… every week or so.

dark. Next. If at first you don't succeed... and at second...

In the meantime, we just wish that we can find some upbeat news soon — preferably about how “Player X” has been signed to bolster this team’s roster for the coming season.
