It’s that time of the year where suddenly everything feels magical. That’s how we feel about these three moves we’d love to see the Atlanta Braves make.
In a perfect world where the Atlanta Braves have unlimited resources to make whatever moves their heart desires, what would you have them do this offseason?
That’s the question I posed the group at Tomahawk Take and here are some of the responses I got.
Keep in mind, we were only talking about players who are known to be available in free agency or trade — this doesn’t include your Mike Trout dream scenarios (I’m talking to you, James).
My three were Nolan Arenado, Michael Brantley, and Trevor Bauer.
Andrew said Bar-Tolo-Colon, and he’s not wrong.
Edgar had Springer, Shane Greene, and Arenado.
Fred chose Arenado, Springer, and Brad Hand.
My partner, Alan, said Arenado, Brantley, and Marcell Ozuna if there is a DH — Yu Darvish if no DH.
And finally, Trent said Jose Ramirez, Springer, and Ozuna.
The reason I went with Brantley over Springer is that I wanted another left-handed bat in the lineup.
Plus, Springer is only two years younger than Brantley and will be a lot more expensive.
However, Springer is still probably the correct answer here.
Could you imagine a lineup of:
Acuna
Freeman
Arenado
Springer
Ozzie
TDA
Dansby
Swanson
And then let’s say the third move is for Bauer. I know the Braves already have a full rotation, but in our Christmas magic we’re not concerning ourselves with that, we’re getting greedy.
Bauer
Soroka
Fried
Morton
Anderson
I mean, that team looks and feels like a World Series winner to me.
With the starting pitching we do have, it probably makes more sense for that third move to be a solid bullpen arm like Hand or whoever you feel is the best available reliever.
But with that many starters, you can just use them out of the bullpen in the postseason.
We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. May our Braves wishes come true.
