20. Washington Nationals

The defending champs will not be able to defend their titles and no one in Atlanta Braves country will be upset about that, but we will be Nationals fans over the next couple of days as they play the Phillies.

19. New York Mets

The Atlanta Braves went into Queens over the weekend and took care of business as they won two out of three including putting up 15 on the Mets on Friday night.

18. San Francisco Giants

The Giants have a shot as they enter the final week and that’s all you can really ask for from a club like this. Admittedly, I gave the Giants no chance of being here when the season started a couple months ago.

17. Philadelphia Phillies

What looked certain a week ago is quickly becoming challenging, and that is earning a playoff berth. The Phillies have been ravaged with injuries and Bryce Harper being the latest. no word yet on how serious?

16. Milwaukee Brewers

Perhaps the biggest series of this week will be the one Milwaukee and Cincinnati start Monday as the team that wins the series will hold the upper hand of getting one of those last playoff spots in the NL

15. Toronto Blue Jays

When the Blue Jays clinch a playoff spot this week, they might want to give a little extra love to Taijuan Walker, because since coming over in a trade, he has been straight filthy and might be Toronto’s number 1 going into October.

14. Houston Astros

Tough break for the Astros, as it was announced Justin Verlander will indeed need Tommy John Surgery. One would think, that basically eliminates any chances of him pitching in 2021 as well for the Astros.

13. Cleveland Indians

The Indians are seemingly backing into the postseason, but with that pitching staff, and Jose Ramirez absolutely belting the ball. They could still be a team to make noise in this new age style of playoffs.

12. Cincinnati Reds

I’m going to come out and say it, the Reds are probably the hottest team in the NL at this point and they are also the one team that I want the Atlanta Braves to avoid at all possible in a playoff matchup. This team is finally playing the way I expected them too all along.

11. Miami Marlins

Admit it, you had the series the Marlins and the Atlanta Braves are starting on Monday circled on the schedule early in the year as the biggest series to date. It is all but certain that the Marlins will actually make the playoffs.
