Ian Anderson seems to be the real deal
After making his first career start against the New York Yankees of all teams, Ian Anderson made his first career road start against his childhood favorite team, the Boston Red Sox.
Ian Anderson was up to the task too as he was able to go six innings and only allowed two earned runs.
It might be a sight for sore eyes for Atlanta Braves fans, but yes someone besides Max Fried finally has more than one quality start on the year. It only took Ian Anderson two starts to register two quality starts. Something the Atlanta Braves were obviously in desperate need of.
Digging a little deeper into the start, Anderson tacked on 8 punch outs on the evening and threw 96 pitches, of which 61 were strikes. Nothing wrong with either of those stats.
Six hits, one walk, and one hit by pitch to close out the box score for Ian.
Important to remember that yes the Boston Red Sox are playing bad baseball at the moment, but that is in large part due to their pitching staff being ravished with injuries and a couple key hitters being out.
The bottom line is that this team can still hit and Ian Anderson was not as sharp as he was in his debut from last week, but he did not need to be either. He did plenty enough to give the Atlanta Braves what they needed and is quickly becoming a reliable piece in the rotation for the strech run behind Max Fried.
