The game on Sunday night ended in dramatic fashion for the Atlanta Braves and a lot of controversy over MLB’s home plate collision rule.

Let’s get one thing out of the way really quickly, the fact the Atlanta Braves are 16-12 and in first place in the NL East despite all the significant injuries is incredible.

But I understand that doesn’t help the frustration subside over Sunday night’s loss.

It’s not just about the final play of the game where Dansby Swanson was thrown out at home as the possible tying run.

Even more frustrating is that in the fifth in sixth innings the Braves had a runner on third with one out and both times failed to get the runner home. That’s been happening way too often lately.

As much as we want to over-analyze the last play of the game, perhaps it never gets to that point if the Braves execute in those other situations.

But even if we look past that, the fact that this Braves team just never gives up and keeps on pushing is amazing.

The fact that they can miss out on so many opportunities to score and yet they still create other opportunities later in the game says a lot about the character of this team to move on and keep playing hard.

Think about it, they played from behind in every game of that Phillies series and nearly swept them.

The point I’m trying to make is despite the loss Sunday night, this Braves team is doing incredible things and is still in good shape to win the East and make the postseason again.

But now let’s get back into the controversy of Sunday night.
