It’s hard to believe what we are closing in on the one third mark of the season already for the Atlanta Braves and everyone else.
Some teams are struggling and some are flourishing and with the shortened season, who knows what’s gonna happen? One thing is for certain though, the Atlanta Braves have felt the injury wrath hard and that will most likely be the key for contenders.
With that being said, let’s get right to this week’s rankings where naturally a big shakeup has occured.
30. Pittsburgh Pirates
3-13 is a terrible start and even worse, they let the Detroit Tigers come in and sweep them over the weekend. It could be a good thing the Pirates upcoming series against the Cardinals got postponed.
29. Seattle Mariners
Former prized prospect Justus Sheffield earned his first major league win Sunday when he found a way to quiet the red hot Rockies bats.
28. Arizona Diamondbacks
Atlanta Braves fans…aren’t you glad we avoided disaster by not signing Madison Bumgarner? Yes, he can turn it around but good luck if that is what you have for the next 4 years Arizona.
27. Toronto Blue Jays
Still a lot to like long term for this Blue Jays team, but out of the gate they have been slow. Maybe a trip home will do them some good. Oh wait….Buffalo is not home.
26. Kansas City Royals
It’s good to see Salvador Perez back seemingly healthy and playing close to the level of play we have come to expect from him.
25. Los Angeles Angels
Dear Los Angeles Angels front office, we here in Atlanta Braves country will gladly take on Mike Trout and his big contract if you all ever start to feel bad because he is going to continue to miss the playoffs out there.
24. San Francisco Giants
Mike Yastrzemski is turning out to be a nice quality young player for the Giants who seems to be benefiting from the outfield walls being moved in.
23. Boston Red Sox
After the Red Sox play a crucial series against the Rays this week, Atlanta Braves fans will be rooting for them when they play the Phillies and Nationals.
22. Washington Nationals
It has been a rough start for the defending champs. Stephen Strasburg came back and looked awful against the Orioles and now Max Scherzer is dealing with nagging injuries. As of now, they sit in last place in the East.
21. Philadelphia Phillies
The good news for the Phillies is Jake Arreita looked very sharp against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night, but the bad news is everyone else who takes the mound for them does not.
