With the Atlanta Braves deciding to move on from Mike Foltynewicz in the starting rotation we look at the best options to replace him.

Seeing the Atlanta Braves part ways with the guy who dominated in game two of the NLDS for them last year was quite shocking.

I’m not saying it was warranted based on the recent performances of Mike Foltynewciz, but to give up on a guy that quickly in a season certainly caught me off guard.

You hate to speculate, but there has to be more to the story than we’re being told.

Either way, I truly believe Folty has thrown his last inning in an Atlanta Braves uniform and I wish him all the best wherever he lands.

Now the Braves have a gaping hole — and possibly more if Sean Newcomb doesn’t show improvement next time out — in their starting rotation.

Of course, we’d love to fill that gap with Cole Hamels, but that won’t be happening any time soon.

And it’s probably too early in the season to start looking at trade candidates, but we’ll likely do that in the coming weeks.

For now, I think the Braves are simply going to give some of the young guys a chance in the rotation and see what they can do.

After the game Monday night manager Brian Snitker said they may use an opener, and then later he mentioned a few of the Braves’ prospects who could get a shot.

I’ll give you my five best options and order them with who I think is the best option at one.
