The Atlanta Braves added two familiar faces to their Major League roster on Tuesday afternoon.
Many Atlanta Braves fans wondered if they had seen the last of Charlie Culberson in a Braves uniform once the 2019 campaign came to a close.
He was signed to a minor league contract in the off-season and with all the other roster moves made, it was unsure if the affectionately called “Charlie Clutch” would make it.
Although, there was a little bit of hope when MLB announced that they would be expanding to a 26-man roster. This gave Charlie a much better shot at making the team.
That was confirmed on Tuesday as the Braves announced that they had selected Culberson’s contract for the 2020 season.

Culberson was just one of the many moves made by the Atlanta Braves organization in the previous two days.
Not long after learning that Charlie Clutch had been added to the MLB roster, Atlanta announced that they had signed former Brave, Jhoulys Chacin, to a 1-year Major League contract.
Chacin was a member of the Atlanta Braves back in 2016 and made 5 starts before being traded to the Los Angeles Angels.
He had a great year for the Brewers in 2018 but is fresh off of a season where he started 24 games for both the Brewers and Red Sox.
He finished 2019 with a 6.01 ERA with 101 strikeouts and 46 walks across 103 1/3 innings. Not the best of seasons but there is still some potential left for the 32-year-old pitcher.

The Braves are seemingly just looking to ensure they have enough pitching depth to get through the 2020 season with as few hiccups as possible. Which is good with the uncertainty surrounding Cole Hamels and with Felix Hernandez opting out the season.
Chacin is a welcome sight for a team that wants to ensure that they have enough depth at the pitching position.
Honestly, I’m glad they brought Culberson back because his tenure as an Atlanta Brave didn’t deserve to end with him being hit in the face with a pitch from National’s reliever Fernando Rodney.
I think Charlie Clutch deserves a much better ending to his Braves’ career than that.
Chacin will bring yet another veteran presence to a youthful pitching staff that’s prepared for success.
Are these moves going to help the Braves win a World Series? Only time will tell us,
However, Alex Anthopoulos has proven time and time again that he knows exactly what buttons to press at the right time.
