First 30 — Relief Pitchers

Relief Pitchers (9): Mark Melancon, Will Smith, Shane Greene, Chris Martin, Luke Jackson, Darren O’Day, Jeremy Walker, Josh Tomlin, and Grant Dayton.

This is where we could have a debate, but I also don’t think it’s that big of a deal which relievers the Braves take to Truist and who they send to Gwinnett. We’ll likely see relievers shipped back-and-forth all year.

I think the first six listed here are safe bets to make the Opening Day 30 and the other three spots are up for grabs. This is also assuming the Braves take seven starters, which I think is likely.

If they Braves only carry six starters, which I think is the least they take to start the season, this would open up another bullpen spot.

I think Tomlin is crucial to keep on the 30-man as he’s something who can go multiple innings and give you quality innings as he did for the Braves last year.

I think Dayton was close to getting cut before the first spring training ended, but since he’s still listed on the team’s 40-man roster I included him here.

Like the pitching staff, the Braves have very good depth in the bullpen, but I’d say it’s mostly limited to the first four or five names on this list. The guys behind them are still question marks at this point.
