Starting Pitching

78 – Mike Soroka – Silver

The disrespect for Mike Soroka continues in The Show. There is no way he should be a silver card, in my opinion. He’s one of the best pitchers in the game and he’ll prove that over the 2020 season.

Mike is by far the highest-rated Braves’ pitcher, which might indicate that The Show isn’t that high on Atlanta’s rotation.

75 – Cole Hamels – Silver

The veteran lefty brought in by the Braves this past offseason gets a pretty solid rating, and one that I think is spot on. If this suspension of the season lasts much longer than we’re expecting, Cole Hamels might not miss any time at all.

75 – Max Fried – Silver

With all of the offseason hype Max Fried has generated I can’t believe they didn’t rate him a little higher and at least have him as the second-best pitcher on the Braves’ staff.

Obviously I think Fried should be higher. He should probably get the 78 rating Soroka has and Soroka should be around 82.

75 – Mike Foltynewicz – Silver

The 75 rating for Mike Foltynewicz just shows that the game makers don’t know what to think of him either. At times Folty pitches like someone who deserves a low-to-mid 80s rating, while other times he plays like a bronze level player.

I’m expecting a big season from Folty and wouldn’t be surprised to see him finish as a high 70s player.

71 – Sean Newcomb – Bronze

They have Sean Newcomb getting that final spot in the starting rotation rating one point higher than Felix Hernandez. And I’d have to agree.

I like the chances of Newcomb having a big year in 2020 and think he could even earn a mid 70s rating.

They actually have Patrick Weigel (63) rated higher than Bryse Wilson (61) and Kyle Wright (61), which is interesting. From what we saw out of Wright in spring training, I expect his rating to shoot up.

The Show also has Will Smith rated as the best relief pitcher (by far) on the Braves with a rating of 82.

Riley must start at 3B for Braves. dark. Next
