We knew that we couldn’t get all the way through the Spring session in Florida without some news… but the Atlanta Braves didn’t need to start things in this way.

The Atlanta Braves have a ton of pitching depth  That’s good, for it will be tested early and often since the early schedule makes sure that Atlanta will need their fifth starter quickly.

Oh, but… who is that fifth starter anyway?  Well that’s exactly what we’re wondering, too, and that question just became all the more important right out of the gate… and led us into the start of Podcast Episode number 10.

  • First segment:  the biggest news from – literally – the first day of Spring camp was that $18 million man Cole Hamels is out for what will probably end up being a month of the regular season.  Panic!… or maybe not?
  • Second segment:  How’s your math?  Or better yet, how much stock do you put into these projection systems?  There’s people who work awfully hard on these things, but do they really know what they’re talking out or are we just taking this stuff way too seriously?
  • Final segment:  MLB has made 7 new rumored rule changes official.  Fact is, you may not even notice most of them this season… but there’s one in particular that got us to spend a few minutes of discussion to evaluate and consider the possible impact to the game itself.

So here’s that podcast … with a helpful download link here if you’d prefer to do this more privately. You can also find us on facebook, iTunes, and Spreaker.

Next week things start getting more fun as Grapefruit League games get under way.  That’s one giant leap toward real baseball, and after a long off-season of speculation… that’s exactly what we want to see.

Next. Looking for a strong shoulder to lean on. dark

Enjoy the show!
