So the Atlanta Braves now have their big bat.  But what are the chances they’re gonna just ‘mail it in’ for the rest of the Winter?

You’ve got to admit it:  Alex Anthopoulos is really having a heckuva offseason.  He’s spent money on his Atlanta Braves early, often, and now late as well.

But now we have the anticipation of Spring Training in the air, and there’s a number of ‘what to expect now?‘ questions hanging that we explore in this 8th podcast episode in a spirited set of discussions.

  • First segment:  after a quick rundown of favorite baseball movies, we get into the possible problems that a Spring experimentation with Robo Umps may cause.  Then we move into the interviews that Alex Anthopoulos has been granting lately… which have been unusually refreshing in their candor.
  • Second segment: the merits of the signings of Felix Hernandez and Marcell Ozuna – two radically different situations and (likely) two radically different results.
  • Final segment: with all the free agent acquisitions this Winter (18 of them at various levels since November), the Atlanta Braves still haven’t made a single trade of any kind.  So naturally, we decided to help them out with a friendly suggestionfor some star third baseman from out West.

So here’s that podcast … with a helpful download link here if you’d prefer to do this more privately.  You can also find us on facebook, iTunes, and Spreaker.

Big trade ideas aside, we are entering the final phase of the offseason, where most clubs are wrapping up whatever they intend to do for team building, Fan Fests – including our own Chop Fest today – are in progress… so most tasks are supposed to be done now.

Next. Looking for a strong shoulder to lean on. dark

Well… we’re still kinda hoping for one more big deal for the Atlanta Braves.  Because we’re greedy like that.  Enjoy the show!
