Atlanta Braves: Promotions you won’t want to miss for the 2020 season
One of my favorite parts about the months leading up to spring training is the announcement of Atlanta Braves promotions.
I am a huge collector of bobbleheads, as mentioned in my article I published last year about the Atlanta Braves 2019’s promotions.
There are a lot of bobbleheads I will be looking to add to my collection in the upcoming schedule. Full disclosure, I will certainly not be listing all of the giveaways for the season as there are far too many.
This list will also be subjective, these are the giveaways I am most looking forward to. I highly encourage all of you to look at the full list on the Braves official website.
Since these are my picks, they will mostly be bobbleheads. The first section of the article will be bobbleheads only, and the second part will be other items of interest.
B-MAC
The first big giveaway of the year is Brian McCann’s bobblehead on Monday, April 6th vs the Padres. It features Brian in his catcher’s gear, mask off looking like he is about to walk to the pitcher’s mound to calm down Mike Soroka (or any Braves pitcher).
I am partial to this bobblehead because I have always been a fan of McCann. I was a catcher when I was younger, and he was my hero for a long time. I even wore 16 for a large part of my baseball “career.”
I’m sure that many Braves fans, like me, grew up watching B-Mac anchor the dish for the Braves for 6-7 years. I actually don’t have any McCann bobbles, so this will be one that I would love to get my hands on. There will be 15,000 of these available, so be sure to get to the park early!
Best Friends
I am going to bundle the Ozzie and Ronald bobbles here together, as they go together quite nicely. As you can see by the tweet in the first section, these bobbles are representing the duo’s now famous celebration after every Braves win.
The bobbleheads even have components that allow them to fit together, which I’m pretty sure is a first for Braves giveaway bobbleheads.
As such a unique item combo, I will certainly be going to these games to get these two bobbleheads together.
World Series MVP
I really like this bobblehead. As a poor soul born after 1995, I have never experienced the joy of the Braves winning a World Series.
When I was born in 1999, the Braves lost the world series to the Yankees. My dad is a Yankees fan (ugh) and I never hear the end of it. So, I try to get as much happiness out of the Braves one title in Atlanta as someone who didn’t live it possibly can.
This bobblehead drips nostalgia from that 95 championship, with Glavine wearing the world champions hat and shirt, and hoisting his World Series MVP trophy that he earned for his dominance over the Indians.
Like Glavine, this next bobblehead features a Braves Ace.
Maple Maddux
As the budding ace of the Braves rotation, it was only natural that Mike Soroka would receive his first Braves bobblehead this season. Later in the year, this one takes place on the 26th and 27th of August.
Like last year’s Ozzie Slide bobble, it’s split up over 2 days. However, unlike last time, which had 7,500 available on each day, this year’s will have 15,000 per day. That should help make sure that most fans are happy leaving the park with their souvenir.
Bonus Round
I’m kind of cheating with this one, but on April 7th the Braves are selling a ticket package that includes an incredible bobblehead. It features Acuna Jr., Albies, and Freeman holding their silver slugger awards from 2019.
This is my most anticipated item, and the game will also feature a pregame award ceremony. At the time of this writing, ticket packages are still on sale. I would highly recommend this game to everyone.
Last But Not Least
As I mentioned in the introduction, there are some other non-bobblehead giveaways.
Last year’s Ozzie Chain giveaway was a huge hit, with chains in high demand, and being sold on eBay during the game for as high as $80. I was at that game, and barely missed getting one.
This year, the Braves are doing a more limited kids giveaway for the chain. So, if you have a kid who wants one, or will get one for you, it might be one worth chasing.
Similar to this, there is an Acuna Jr. chain featuring his jersey number. It’s a pretty cool item, and those who were interested in the Ozzie chain might also like this one.
There is also a replica Hank Aaron jersey in the old school 1070’s style, which I think looks fantastic. The games where the Braves wear those uniforms are usually some of my favorites to watch each season.
Overall, I think there is an item for everyone on this list. I hope to see all of you at the park this season!
