Corey Kluber

Yes, Corey Kluber was just traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Texas Rangers in a deal that many on the outside have hammered the Indians for.

Here’s why that could be good news for a team like the Atlanta Braves.

Let’s say the Texas Rangers are not playing as good as hoped come July 1st and are falling quickly out of playoff contention. Keep in mind, they are in a very tough AL West division.

Let’s also say that Kluber is pitching closer to the 2018 version of himself than the 2019 version before he broke his arm.

If that’s the case, Kluber will be a hot commodity come July, especially once you consider he is a pending free agent at years end.

A team like the Braves who would be in contention could easily send the Rangers a slightly better package than what they gave the Indians for Corey Kluber’s services.

It would be a win-win for both teams as the Rangers would upgrade on what they originally sent and also would be congratulated on trying and going for it.

A lot of “if’s” in this scenario, I am aware, but also none that I think are outlandish.

Kluber was a player who was mentioned as being available early this offseason that I wanted the Braves to go after. It didn’t happen then, but if he bounces back to what he was a very short time ago, he could be a big get for a lot of teams come July.
