When Santa Claus visits the Atlanta Braves this Christmas here are three things we hope he leaves under the tree.
First of all, we want to wish all of our fans and readers a very Merry Christmas from everyone here at Tomahawk Take. The interaction we get from you Atlanta Braves fans keeps us going and energizes us to do even more.
We hope you all have a great Christmas with friends and family.
And we also hope Santa Claus is extra rewarding to the Atlanta Braves this Christmas.
Here are three things we hope the Braves find under the Christmas tree this Christmas morning.
1. A fourth-year for Josh Donaldson
Let’s start with the obvious. It seems like the only thing holding up Josh Donaldson signing with Atlanta is a fourth year. So far it appears that Alex Anthopoulos has been unwilling to give him that extra year, but maybe Santa Claus can provide it for him and bring the rainmaker back to Atlanta.
2. A fully healthy, MVP season for Freddie Freeman
OK, so this is kind of two things, but I believe they go hand-in-hand. Had Freddie Freeman been healthy for the final month of the season I think he had a real shot at winning an NL MVP in 2019. Going into September he was hitting .299 with 36 home runs and an OPS of .963. Those bone spurs limited him to just a .264 average and 2 home runs in September.
My personal Christmas wish is that Freddie can stay healthy and effective the entire 2020 season and finally win that elusive MVP award. He’s finished in the top eight of the voting in four of the past seven seasons.
3. A postseason series win
It feels like it may take something magical for the Braves to win a postseason series, and maybe Santa can help us out. As we all know, they haven’t won a postseason series since 2001. And while we certainly want much more, getting that monkey off our backs in 2020 would be huge.
Again, we hope you all have a great Christmas Day. Let us know what you hope Santa brings the Atlanta Braves this Christmas in the comments below.
