It seems like a fairly obvious match for the Atlanta Braves… Madison Bumgarner: but should the team sign him or not?

Following up on a second straight NL East title, fans are expecting at least a few big moves from the Atlanta Braves this off-season.

With Josh Donaldson’s exit to free agency and the Braves buyout of Teheran’s contract, the Braves have some big holes to fill.  Rumors are already swirling around Giants’ legend, Madison Bumgarner.

The Braves were connected to Bumgarner prior to last season’s trade deadline. The big lefty is originally from North Carolina and grew up rooting for the Braves. Bumgarner spent his formative years tomahawk-chopping and presumably screaming through the television at Barry Bonds for flipping his bat and staring at yet another walk-off home run against the Braves.

Already a veteran of parts of 11 seasons – and barely 30 years old – Bumgarner already has 3 World Series rings in his jewelry box… and some mileage on his arm.

Still, Bumgarner could be the rotation piece the Braves need to get back to the World Series.  Starting pitching will be a primary concern and if recent news is to be believed, it seems that this conversation begins with Madison Bumgarner.

Earlier this week, that point came up as a report out of San Francisco claims that the Braves are making Bumgarner a ‘priority’ for this off-season.

There’s been no word out of Atlanta since that report to confirm, deny, or even deflect this report… but of course at this point in the off-season, it could be written off as simply ‘the first of many rumors to come’.

But let’s get ahead of this:  Let’s examine the case for and against making Madison Bumgarner an Atlanta Brave.
