With free agency now open, we take a look at what the Atlanta Braves Opening Day roster could look like when the 2020 season rolls around.
We are still a long way away from 2020 Opening Day, but it’s never too early to predict who will be on the Atlanta Braves roster.
If you’ve been paying attention, Alex Anthopoulos has been pretty quiet in the offseason since taking over as general manager of the Atlanta Braves.
While we certainly expect/hope he’ll be more active this winter, there’s a good chance the Braves 2020 roster will look very similar to what it does now.
In this exercise, I will try to keep it as realistic as possible, while also putting my own personal spin on what I hope AA does this offseason.
We know the Braves need to plug holes at catcher, third base, outfield, and in the bullpen.
But despite all of that, my primary target for the Braves this offseason is in the starter rotation.
While they certainly don’t need to get a starting pitcher this offseason, I think it’s imperative for the Braves to get a frontline starter if they are going to contend in the postseason.
At the very least, they could use a veteran starter to take the place of Dallas Keuchel — and hopefully someone a little better than Keuchel.
Let’s go position group by position group and give you my predictions for who will be on the Braves Opening Day roster on March 26 against the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2020.
