With the World Series ending Wednesday night, we take a look at whether or not the Atlanta Braves should pick up the team options for Tyler Flowers and Nick Markakis.

After the last out of the World Series was recorded on Wednesday night, the Atlanta Braves have five days to decide whether or not to pick up any player options.

They’ll have four such players on the roster that they’ll have to make that decision on before November 5.

Julio Teheran has a $12 million team option for the 2020 season, and Billy Hamilton has a $7.5 million mutual option.

We’ve already covered the Julio situation here, and there really isn’t a decision with Hamilton. As much as I love the speedster, the Atlanta Braves aren’t going to pay him $7.5 million to come off the bench to steal bases.

My personal opinion on Julio is that the Braves will decline his option, but I would also not be surprised if they picked it up and tried to move him or keep him as a back of the rotation arm.

But, that’s a rather pricey fifth starter, so I still lean towards them not picking up that option.

In this article, we’re going to focus on the options for catcher Tyler Flowers and outfielder Nick Markakis.

I think in the end you’ll see both of these will be a very simple decision as well, but I also believe it comes with a caveat.

And what the Braves decide to do will be very telling for how the rest of the offseason will go.
