With the NLDS matchup official, let’s look at the pitching side of the St. Louis Cardinals and what the Atlanta Braves will be up against.

The Atlanta Braves wrapped up its 2019 regular season on Sunday by losing three-straight against the Mets — an unfortunate end-of-the-season sweep.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers also took one to the chin, getting swept by the Rockies in Denver, including back-to-back walk-off losses — ending their hopes of upgrading their spot in the 2019 Playoffs.

That leaves the St. Louis Cardinals, themselves limping to the finish line after dropping four of their final five games, though, ending the season with a shut-out win over the Cubbies (9-0).

The 2019 postseason is finally laid out. No more guessing or speculating. The Atlanta Braves will face the Cardinals on Thursday, for Game 1 of the NLDS, at SunTrust Park — first pitch set for 5:02 p.m. (CNT) if the Nationals win the NL Wild Card game and 6:02 if the Brewers win.

  • GM 2 in Atlanta —  Friday at 4:37 p.m.
  • GM 3 in St. Louis — Saturday (TBD)

So as we begin our NLDS coverage here at Tomahawk Take — where there will be plenty of content on several different aspects of this upcoming playoff series. Here are a few starters already up:

I have chosen to look at the opposition, more specifically the St. Louis Cardinals starting pitching.

I’ll look at the top-three Cardinals’ starters during the 2019 regular season, as well as their respective stats. Plus, look at a few other potential guys that could make a start in the NLDS.

As usual, I’ll be focusing more on the numbers side of things while also giving my almost useless opinion on the topic.

So let’s just get on with it!
