This is the one we’ve all been waiting for. The NL East division is on the line as the Atlanta Braves battle the Washington Nationals this weekend.
For quite some time now we’ve been pointing to this four-game series between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals as one that could decide who wins the NL East in 2019.
Obviously, it’s not just this four-game series, it’s this entire stretch of 14 games where the Atlanta Braves face the Nationals and Phillies seven times each.
But at this point, the Phillies really aren’t a factor for the division, even though they may factor into who wins it between the Braves and Nats.
The real battle will be between Atlanta and Washington, and it should be a good one.
Both teams have been playing extremely well as of late, and the Atlanta Braves will go into this four-game series with at least a six-game lead.
Atlanta has done exactly what it needed to do over this stretch of games against weaker competition to put themselves in a great position going into this 14-game stretch.
With the way things currently stand, the Braves just need to split this four-game series with the Nats. That would take four more games off the schedule with the Braves still having a six-game lead.
However, if the Atlanta Braves want to really make a statement they can win this series and really put their foot on the throat of the Nats.
Obviously that’s what Braves fans will be hoping for this weekend, so let’s see how Atlanta can get it done.
