The Atlanta Braves walked off with a win in their last game against the Marlins this season thanks to Ronald Acuña.
With that said, let’s take a look at the takeaways from the Atlanta Braves 3-2 win.
3. Thursday was just the latest edition of the Braves owning the Marlins
The season series with the Marlins is now over, and the final tally was the Braves winning the season 15-4. As you may have heard, this was the first time in 15 years the Braves have defeated a team 15 times in a season. The last being the Nationals in 2004 when they were the Expos.
The bad part is I can think of one loss against the Marlins that never should have happened either. That being the game last weekend where Mike Soroka started.
It was very fitting that Ronald Acuna was the one who had the walk-off hit Thursday, because as we all know he has a history already despite his career just beginning. We all know he owns Miami pitching so far, but so does Freddie Freeman, and Ozzie Albies. It also seems like most of the Braves staff has good career numbers against the Fish as well. That includes Julio Teheran who limited the Marlins to 1 run this year over 25 innings.
On the other hand, though, I won’t be sad to not see Brian Anderson and Starlin Castro any more this year. They are about the only two Marlins players that have good results against the Braves this year.
Besides the record against, the final tally for the Braves was 87 runs scored in the 19 games against the Marlins and they limited Miami to 54 runs scored.
Eventually, Miami will be better but good teams feast on the bad ones and that is exactly what Atlanta did to Miami this season. Now we have to root for Miami when they are playing the Mets, Nationals, and Phillies.
