It’s never easy for the Atlanta Braves, but they still somehow find a way to win most of these games. That includes Wednesday as they were able to hang on and defeat the Mets 6-4.

We are not going to touch on the Atlanta Braves bullpen in this recap, because I don’t have much nice things to say. We all know they need to produce better and hopefully they do REAL SOON!

So with that being said, let’s jump right into our three takeaway’s from Wednesday’s game.

3. Johan Camargo is not the answer

The truth is Johan Camargo is not as bad as he has played this year, but he is not as good as he performed last year. However, right now he is killing the Braves with his defense at Shortstop. It is abundantly clear that the Braves not only miss Dansby Swanson’s bat, but we need his glove back as well.

Johan’s defense would be slightly more tolerable if he were producing at the plate, but he is not doing that either at the moment, despite the fact he did have a crucial hit last night. Although, that was after two failed bunt attempts.

Best case scenario would be for Dansby to return in short order, but as the days linger on, I’m not sure we are going to see Dansby before September.

While the Atlanta Braves do have a slight cushion on the rest of the NL East, we still need to win every game and therefore need a reliable Shortstop who can make the simple plays.

Charlie Culberson has been a little more reliable than Johan but even he has made a few bad plays in the diamond. However, it feels like he is our best option at this point.

Maybe the Braves call up Pedro Florimon or take a chance and put a claim in on recently released Adeiny Hechavarria? All I know is we can’t keep giving the opposing teams extra outs to work with on bad plays.
