Atlanta Braves: Takeaways from offensive explosion in Minnesota
By Steven Teal
Mike Foltynewicz made his return to the Atlanta Braves starting rotation on Tuesday evening. The Atlanta offense ensured that he would be provided with plenty of run support in the Twin cities.
Tuesday night marked the highly anticipated return of Mike Folytnewicz to the Atlanta Braves starting rotation.
Foltynewicz spent a little over a month fine-tuning his pitches at Triple-A Gwinnett after struggling to find success early on in 2019 for Atlanta.
Many fans were skeptical of Mike’s return to the rotation and rightfully so. He looked completely lost early on in the 2019 season. He struggled to find command of his pitches and his slider didn’t have the break that it needed for him to be successful.
Alex Anthopolous and the Atlanta Braves coaching staff were confident that Folty could work on his issues with the Gwinnett Stripers and come back to be a difference-maker for the Braves.
With Kevin Gausman‘s struggles leading him to be placed on waivers and claimed by the Reds, Atlanta needed Folty to step up.
Folty looked like a different guy and the offense did it’s best to set him up for success. They needed to come out swinging after suffering a tough loss on Monday.
The top of the lineup was absolutely on fire as Atlanta beat the Twins by a final score of 12-7.
Let’s discuss a few highlights from Tuesday night’s impressive win.
