There are a lot of teams in the mix this season, which could drive up the asking price for the Atlanta Braves in deals before the trade deadline.
This will be a very interesting and exciting trade deadline as it’s the last chance for teams to make a move this year. I expect the Atlanta Braves to be very active, but if they are going to make any major moves they’ll have to pay a steep price.
Teams are starting to figure out that it’s sometimes better to hold onto a player rather than move them for just anything.
Every team wants that impact prospect in return. And with several teams in the playoff mix leading up to the trade deadline, that’s just going to drive up the price even more.
If the Atlanta Braves are going to land that big-time starter and/or closer, they may have to trade prospects such as Ian Anderson, Cristian Pache, and Drew Waters.
Those are three players that most Braves fans are hoping don’t get moved before July 31.
Many consider them part of the foundation of the future for the Atlanta Braves, but if you want to see this 2019 version improve, you may have to come to terms with the fact that one or two of those players will be traded.
There have been a lot of rumors lately about the Atlanta Braves possibly trading with the New York Mets for Noah Syndergaard. I can almost gurantee you that any trade for Thor would have to include one of those three Braves prospects.
If Alex Anthopoulos is somehow able to make that deal happen without including any of them, he’d win GM of the Year.
Point is, the front office has to be prepare themselves to be bold leading up this year’s trade deadline. Because you can rest assured that somebody will trade for these players. And if it’s not the Atlanta Braves, then it’s going to be somebody gunning for the Braves’ current playoff spot.
I’m not saying that the Atlanta Braves should definitely trade one of their big three prospects, but I’m prepared to for it to happen if that’s what it takes to make a big trade.
One can only hope that Ian Anderson is as good as Thor has been in his career and will be for the next two-and-a-half years.
That’s why I would feel very good about giving up Anderson in a trade for him or Trevor Bauer.
I’ve never been to Las Vegas and am not a gambler, but I hear you have to ‘spend big to win big.’ That will definitely be the case at this year’s trade deadline.
