Freddie Freeman walks off the Atlanta Braves with homer in tenth inning
The Atlanta Braves offense has clicked lately and it continued on Saturday for their fourth straight win and second in their series with the Milwaukee Brewers
After exploding for 12 runs last night in the opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Atlanta Braves came back down to Earth a bit BUT still had some fireworks in them. It was another fun one for the home team, though not without some tension throughout.
Kevin Gausman took the mound for Atlanta and the Brewers decided to attack early. Lorenzo Cain led off the game with a double to left and Ryan Braun drew a one-out walk.
Mike Moustakas grounded into a fielder’s choice and later stole second. With runners at second and third, Jesus Aguilar singled to center, giving the Brewers two runs to start the game.
He ran into some trouble at the beginning of the third which led to a bases-loaded situation but got out of it with no additional harm.
After that inning, Gausman settled into a grove and even retired 11 straight between the third and sixth inning. Gausman ended the day going six innings while striking out four.
Bring out your bats!
The Braves scored their first run with a bases-loaded sac-fly by Nick Markakis in the bottom of the third. Braun, who caught the ball, tried to double-up Dansby Swanson at second, to no avail, allowing Ronald Acuña Jr. to scamper home.
Josh Donaldson led off the sixth with his wal – already his third of the game by then. A Markakis strikeout and pitching change later, Austin Riley was back up.
On a 1-0 count, Riley did it again, launching a fastball to right for a two-run home run. Man, this guy is on fire! Braves take the lead 3-2 on this oppo-launcho.

Sean Newcomb came out for the seventh and eighth innings and continued his renaissance in the bullpen. He faced five hitters and struck out two.
A Little Tension Won’t Hurt, Right?
The game wasn’t all fairy tale…just yet. Luke Jackson came out for another save situation in the ninth but ran into trouble.
After getting to a 2-2 count, Jackson hit Keston Hiura with a pitch. He struck out Eric Thames but allowed back-to-back hits to Orlando Arcia and Lorenzo Cain, allowing the Brewers to tie the game.
Jackson eventually got out of it, striking out Braun and getting Moustakas to ground out… both with the bases loaded.
Josh Hader came in and easily handled the Braves in the ninth, including striking out Acuña on three pitches. However, after Jacob Webb sat the Brewers down in the 10th, Freddie Freeman said “Hold my beer”…maybe.
The team’s captain and leader launched a home run for the third straight game – off a a lefty/lefty match-up 94 mph fastball and one of the nastiest relievers in the game – this time giving the Braves the walk-off win.
Braves win 4-3 and take another series win. They will go for the sweep on Sunday with Mike Foltynewicz on the mound against Brandon Woodruff.
