11. Cleveland Indians

Maybe the biggest surprise in all of Baseball has been Jose Ramirez‘ awful 2019 season so far. On the other hand, he started to hit a little bit last week. The Indians desperately need him to get back to 2018 Ramirez to have any shot.

12. San Diego Padres

Get to know the name Chris Paddack if you don’t already. He is pitching lights out currently for the Padres and is the front runner for NL ROY in my mind right now. The problem is the Padres intend to keep him on an innings limit.

13. Atlanta Braves

The Braves did what they usually do in Los Angeles, which is not a good thing. They did bounce back and were oh so close to a sweep of the Diamondbacks. Mike Soroka continues to impress.

14. Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pirates are the bipolar team of MLB this year. It seems they will lose five in a row and then follow it up with a five-game winning streak. Avoiding long losing streaks, this could be a sleeper in the Wild Card standings.

15. Arizona Diamondbacks

Losing 8 of its last 10 is going to put a damper on the early season success, but two players the Diamondbacks have are really good. David Peralta, and so far Luke Weaver is playing like the frontrunner piece they acquired in the Goldschmidt trade.

16. Colorado Rockies

Much of the same stories that always persist with the Rockies are finding its ways into the team’s problems this year. So far in May, the team has a 7.38 ERA. Obviously, that is not real good.

17. New York Mets

I mentioned Paddack as the early season NL ROY favorite. If he isn’t, then Pete Alonso surely is. He has 12 home runs and 32 RBI so far. Not to mention a not too shabby .271 batting average. The Mets may finally have a good first baseman.

18. Los Angeles Angels

The current race in the AL West is who is gonna finish second to the Astros, and will that team finish above .500. The Angels are currently in second and two games below the .500 mark.

19. Detroit Tigers

Detroit is staying competitive, but the main question fans in the Motor City want to know is when is young stud Casey Mize going to make the jump and make his debut. Currently, he is toying with Double-A hitters.

20. Oakland Athletics

Congratulations to Athletics righty Mike Fiers who we all know by now threw the first no-hitter of the season. The Athletics are probably the biggest threat to the Angels for that second place spot in the division.
