21. Cincinnati Reds

Still in last place, the Reds are playing better and creeping up towards .500. The biggest observation for the Reds from the outside though has to be the emergence of young ace Luis Castillo so far.

22. Chicago White Sox

Of qualified starters on the White Sox, Ivan Nova has the best ERA …. that ERA is 6.29. Obviously, that means to win games, the offense is going to have to show up and score a lot of runs on a nightly basis. To be fair, Lucas Giolito has been a nice surprise and is just under 40 innings pitched with a 3.55 ERA.

23. Texas Rangers

The Rangers have faded in the past few weeks ruining the team’s decent start, but the rock bottom had to be this weekend as they got swept and hammered by the Astros during a 4-game sweep.

24. Washington Nationals

I know they lost Bryce Harper, but this team so far is the biggest disappointment of the season to me. (Not that I’m really disappointed). Lot’s of rumbling about replacing Dave Martinez as manager as the losing ways continue.

25. San Francisco Giants

Derek Holland might have said a little too much this weekend. It seems if things are not all well out by the Bay, but this team was never poised to contend this year anyway. They need to get on with the rebuild.

26. Seattle Mariners

The trend this week is teams that started off hot and are now free falling. Count the Mariners who are one of those teams. They continue to mash home runs but lose at a rapid pace.

27. Toronto Blue Jays

It’s only a matter of time, but safe to say Vlad Guerrero Jr has not broken out as quickly as many hoped or expected. Much like the Giants, the time to start over and rebuild for Toronto is now.

28. Baltimore Orioles

Andrew Cashner and John Means haven’t been terrible, but the rest of the pitching staff has been. We all know the state of Baltimore baseball right now, so none of that is surprising.

29. Kansas City Royals

The last common thread of these losing teams is the lack of good starting pitching any of these teams possess. These teams need to realize that pitching is a key part of the game and develop it from within.

30. Miami Marlins

Not much is left to be said about the Marlins. They are bad and the rebuild is going to be long and painful for the small group of fans they have. Until then, hopefully they don’t spoil the Atlanta Braves in anyways.
