The Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres finished out a four-game series as the Padres clobbered the Braves 11-2.

And in turn, the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres ended up splitting the series. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the takeaways from the series finale.

Padres Pitching shut down the Braves bats

Matt Strahm pitched a well of a game, but the Atlanta Braves seemed to be impatient at times early in the game. They were making quick, soft contact and only had 4 hits through the first 5 innings.

The Braves were able to lead the 6th off with 4 straight hits and in turn scored the only 2 runs they scored throughout the entire game, but that obviously wasn’t enough.

Padres pitching did a good job throughout the whole series of limiting the Braves offense and its easy to see why they are a good, young ball club on the rise.

However, the Braves could be a little more patient and maybe get some of these pitchers, especially the young ones, to find themselves in a hole and get to hit in good hitters counts.

Let’s don’t discredit Matt Strahm though as he’s a talented young pitcher. After the all-star break last year, his ERA was 1.67 and his batting average against was .188. Most clubs are gonna struggle facing this kid.

In all honesty though, it’s more than likely just a blip on the radar. While still producing and getting a few hits, no one on the team seems to be locked in at the moment.

Ronald Acuna, Freddie Freeman, Ozzie Albies, and the rest of the lineup will surely get it going soon, it just didn’t happen on Thursday, unfortunately.
