Another Week of MLB Baseball is in the books, and April has gone by fast. After about another 2 weeks, we will already be at the quarter mark of the season. With that said, let’s take a look at our weekly MLB power rankings.
Things are starting to take shape in baseball as we get into our third week of MLB Power Rankings.
It’s April 30th and the 14-14 Atlanta Braves are sitting in a 2nd place tie with a .500 record. The Phillies are maintaining a small lead at 16-12, the Mets are 14-14 and the Nationals are in 4th at 12-14.
Let’s check the rest of the majors and how our foes are doing.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers-
The Cubs beat them 2 in a row, but then the Dodgers roared back and swept the Pirates. Cody Bellinger continues to stay red hot at the plate.
2. New York Yankees-
The Yankees went out west and won 6 out of 7 against the Giants and Angels. Despite what seems like a new injury every day, the offense keeps humming along as they have scored at least 4 runs in 10 straight games.
3. St. Louis Cardinals-
Speaking of offense, the Cardinals might be the only team thus far to rival the Yankees. So far, the Cardinals have scored at least 4 runs in all but 3 games this year. If their pitching gets hot, look out.
4. Houston Astros-
The Astros ended the week in first place but truthfully they endured a up and down week (5-5 in their last 10). One positive is young stud Carlos Correa is looking to heat up finally.
5. Tampa Bay Rays-
Going 4-1 immediately after getting swept against Boston (and returning the favor to the Red Sox in Boston) will be a confidence booster for the young team. Despite the Yankees recent surge, the Rays continue to be in first place in the AL East.
6. Philadelphia Phillies-
The Phillies cold streak ended when they got to the Bank and feast on the Marlins. More bad news for the NL East is one would assume the Phillies will win a couple against the Tigers this week.
7. Minnesota Twins-
All those who thought Cleveland was going to be a shoo-in for the postseason are getting proved wrong. Minnesota is a legit team and right now Jorge Polanco is proving to be a good shortstop.
8. Seattle Mariners-
The good start is mostly still propelling the Mariners thus far, but they have stayed afloat as well. The ugly is in the last 2 games against the Rangers, they were outscored 29-2. Ouch
9. Chicago Cubs-
Don’t look now but the Cubbies are getting hot and getting right back into the NL Central race. The Cubs have either won or split all of their last 6 series.
10. Cleveland Indians-
The Indians are staying just above the .500 mark and are still within striking distance of the afore-mentioned Twins. Trevor Bauer is proving to be one of the game’s best pitchers despite being outspoken as well
