The Atlanta Braves come home after a 3-3 road trip to face a Colorado Rockies team that is suddenly on fire.

Atlanta Braves fans who remember just a couple of short weeks ago when we dismantled the Rockies will be in for a shock this weekend.

The Colorado Rockies have gotten healthy and have won eight of their last 10 games. They are starting to look like the team we thought would compete with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West crown.

In that stretch, the Rockies have helped out the Atlanta Braves a good bit by winning three-of-four against the Phillies and two-of-three against the Nationals.

On the season the Rockies are 23rd in runs scored and 22nd in average at .234. But again, they’re a much different team now with guys like Daniel Murphy, David Dahl, and Ryan McMahon back in the lineup.

Dahl leads the team with a .361 average, and Trevor Story has carried them all year with a .292 average and 5 home runs.

Their pitching staff ranks 14th in the league with an ERA of 4.18 to go along with a BAA of .249.

While they aren’t near the level of the Atlanta Braves in issuing walks, they have walked the 12th most batters in baseball this year.

They’ve gotten some good length out of their starts as they rank fourth in the league in starters innings pitched. Their starters average 5.68 innings per game.

You can compare that the Braves who get 5.1 innings per game from their starters.

However, the Braves will miss maybe their best starter in German Marquez, as well as Kyle Freeland.

The Rockies bullpen has been solid with an ERA of 3.59, a WHIP of 1.34, and K/9 of 8.27.

This should be a very even matchup, but one the Atlanta Braves can hopefully pull out at home if they can finally get some timely hitting.
