Atlanta Braves Series Preview: Carrying Momentum into Cincinnati

After an impressive comeback series win over the Cleveland Indians, the Atlanta Braves look to carry that momentum into a three-game set with the Cincinnati Reds.

Before the ninth inning of the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday night, things looked awfully bad for the Atlanta Braves.

They had just been swept at home by the Arizona Diamondbacks, and they were on the verge of getting swept in a doubleheader by the Indians and dropping another series.

But things change quickly in baseball, and a 5-run ninth led to a comeback victory, which propelled them into a blowout win on Sunday night baseball.

The team looked all but lost just a few days ago, but now they seem better than ever.

There are ups and downs in every season, you just want to make sure the downs are short and ups are long. That’s why it’s important for the Atlanta Braves to continue this upswing as they take on the Reds.

Cincinnati made a lot of moves this past offseason to try and stay competitive in 2019.

They struggled mightily out of the gate winning just one game in their first nine. But then they took advantage of the Marlins by sweeping them in a three-game series, and then they split a two-game series with the Cardinals.

However, then they were swept by the Dodgers before winning a four-game series over the San Diego Padres.

The offense has not really come together as they are 26th in runs scored and last in the league with a .197 batting average.

We all know that can change quickly in that ballpark though.

Light-hitting Jose Iglesias leads the team with a .269 batting average.

Their best hitters, Eugenio Suarez (.235) and Joey Votto (.227), are off to slow starts, but you know that will turn around at some point.

The pitching for the Reds has been great though, so hopefully the Atlanta Braves offense continues to put up some good at-bats like they did in Cleveland.
