Game 1 – Julio Teheran vs. Corey Kluber

Saturday – 4:10 ET – High 50, Low 44 & 15% PRECIP

I’ll give the Atlanta Braves front office some credit for this one — a lot of people wanted them to trade for Corey Kluber, and it looks not doing so was a great idea.

It’s not time to throw in the towel on the former Cy Young winner just yet, but he’s looked awful to start the 2019 season with an ERA of 6.16 in 19 innings pitched with 10 walks, 22 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.84.

So far this year he’s gone good start, bad start, good start, bad start. If he continues that trend, the Atlanta Braves could be in trouble.

Over the past three years Kluber has faced the Braves once and picked up a win after tossing 8 innings and allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk with 7 strikeouts.

Obviously, Josh Donaldson has the most experience against him, and it’s been a great experience as he’s 7-19 with a home run and 4 walks against the righty.

Ender Inciarte is 3-5 against Kluber, while Brian McCann is 3-12. Expect both of those lefties to be in the lineup Friday night.

Outside of one bad inning in Coors Field, Julio Teheran has been excellent for the Atlanta Braves this year.

In his last start against the New York Mets he gave up just 1 run over 6 innings on 6 hits and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts.

I had to double and triple check, but it looks like Julio has never faced Cleveland before. And the Indians players on the active roster who have faced him are a putrid 3-49 against him.
