After a dreadful 2-5 homestand, the Atlanta Braves hit the road in search of their identity as the 2019 season rolls along.

The is no denying that getting swept at home by the Arizona Diamondbacks was a terrible and embarrassing moment in this young season for the Atlanta Braves.

As James pointed out in our takeaways article of that game, teams looking to contend don’t get swept at home by inferior teams.

That doesn’t mean I’m ready to give up on the season, but those types of things shouldn’t happen.

I think back to the 2018 season when the San Francisco Giants came in and embarrassed us at home — even worse than what the Diamondbacks just did.

That was at the beginning of May and everybody was in full panic mode like they are now. The Atlanta Braves responded by winning three in a row and each their next four series.

Maybe this Diamondbacks series will be the one to wake this team up in 2019 and they can get back to playing the type of winning baseball we know they are capable of.

However, that won’t be easy as they take on a Cleveland Indians team that is deep in pitching and is coming off a sweep of the Seattle Mariners.

They have the sixth best ERA in all of baseball at 3.17 with 185 strikeouts in 156 innings pitched.

And unlike the Atlanta Braves, the Indians bullpen has been spectacular with a 2.68 ERA.

On the flip side, the Indians offense has not been great averaging just 3.5 runs per game with a .201 team batting average.

But it does sound like they’ll get Francisco Lindor back this weekend, which will be a huge boost for their lineup.
