The Atlanta Braves came back home to Suntrust Park red hot and tied for first place in the NL East.

The day started with the big news of the Ozzie Albies extension, but the fun would end soon after that as the game did not go the Atlanta Braves way.

The division rival New York Mets came to town and downed the Braves 6-3 mostly behind Steven Matz good pitching after a suspect start, and 4 RBI for Shortstop Amed Rosario.

Met first baseman Peter Alonso also chipped in with a hard hit home run.

On the Braves side, Kevin Gausman had an up-and-down night but it obviously wasn’t enough or nearly a good of a game as he pitched last Friday evening.

Ender Inciarte was given the night off with the left-handed Matz on the mound and in his place Johan Camargo hit a line drive home run that scraped the back of the left field wall.

And this certainly didn’t cost the Braves the game, but what took place with home plate umpire Dan Bellino was atrocious. He was clearly one-sided against the Braves after tossing Brian Snitker in the seventh.

With the loss, the Atlanta Braves are now one game behind the same Mets team they played Thursday for the division lead. The Philadelphia Phillies are sandwiched in between the two teams.

The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets will continue the four-game set Friday night in another Braves “Red Out”.

The Braves will roll out Kyle Wright while the Mets will counter with Georgia-born Zach Wheeler.

So with the quick recap of the game out of the way, let’s move on to the three biggest takeaways from the Atlanta Braves side of things from Thursday’s game.
