When do Atlanta Braves make Freddie Freeman a lifetime offer?

After handing out extensions to several of its young stars, it’s time for the Atlanta Braves to do the same for their veteran captain.

The Atlanta Braves have now locked up their young superstars Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies to team friendly deals, so it’s time they take care of Freddie Freeman.

Before the 2014 season, the Atlanta Braves gave their star first baseman an 8-year, $135 million extension.

Before you start comparing that deal to the ones Acuna and Albies got, Freddie got that extension after his third full year in the big leagues.

Still, that deal has turned out to be a steal, so you can only imagine how good the deals for Acuna and Albies could be.

But Freeman only has two years left on that extension, and he has made it known that he wants to be with Atlanta for the rest of his career.

Like his good buddy Chipper Jones, Freeman doesn’t ever want to wear another uniform, and the Atlanta Braves need to make sure that doesn’t happen.

And like his buddy Chipper, I’m expecting/hoping Freddie gives the Braves a team-friendly deal.

Right now the first baseman is signed through his age 31 season. Mike Trout was just extended through his age 38 season, and you have to think the Braves give Freeman that same kind of length.

As much hype as Acuna and the youngsters for the Atlanta Braves have gotten, Freddie Freeman is still the leader of this team and will be for as long as he wears the Braves uniform.
