The Atlanta Braves return home after what ended up being a two-game trip to Denver to take on the New York Mets for four games.
After going 0-3 against the Philadelphia Phillies, this will be a big series for the Atlanta Braves to try and gain some momentum against another contender in the NL East.
Since getting swept by the Phillies to start the 2019 season, the Braves have won seven of their last eight, including a 5-1 homestand last time they were at SunTrust.
As for the New York Mets, they started the season with a big series win on the road over the Washington Nationals. And then they followed that up by sweeping the Miami Marlins.
They played the Nationals again, but this time at home, and lost the three-game series before splitting a two-game series with the Minnesota Twins.
New York is known for their great pitching staff, but they have a 5.22 ERA, which is just 21st best in the league (six spots behind the Atlanta Braves).
However, their offense has been great as they’re sixth in runs scored and seventh in average at .266.
Michael Conforto is off to a hot start hitting .372 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI. Rookie Peter Alonso is hitting .366 with 5 home runs and 15 RBI.
This offense also has a tendency to strike out though with five guys that have 10 or more strikeouts on the season. As a comparison, the Atlanta Braves have only one player who has struck out more than 10 times (Josh Donaldson).
This should be a very competitive matchup though, so let’s look at the matchups.
