In the early going this year, it has been Dansby Swanson who has been the MVP for that Atlanta Braves through nine games.

I know, it’s early, but I can’t help but be excited about the start to the season for Dansby Swanson. And you can say pretty clearly that he’s been the MVP for the Atlanta Braves.

There will be ups-and-downs for every hitter in the Atlanta Braves lineup this year — that’s just how baseball goes.

Sometimes — all of the time — we tend to overreact to a player hitting .350 in the first two weeks of the year and a player hitting .150 to start the year.

But if those things happened in the middle of the season no one would probably even care.

However, the excitement around Dansby Swanson is a little bit justified.

I know he probably won’t be as hot as he has been in the first two weeks of the season, but we also know how important it was/is for him to get off to a hot start.

This is a huge season for the Braves shortstop in terms of his future with this team.

He has to know that if he hits under .250 again that the Atlanta Braves could start looking for his future replacement.

Anybody like myself who watched Dansby all through college knows he won’t go out like that. He’s a much better player than he’s shown the past two years, and I hope this is a sign of him breaking out.
