Here we take a look at the team and individual stats of the Atlanta Braves so far this Spring Training and analyze what they mean.

I am a firm believer that Spring Training wins and losses mean nothing when it comes to the regular season. However, I do think that the stats in Spring Training do carry some weight for Atlanta Braves players and others.

If individual results didn’t matter in Spring Training, then why even keep them? And why let a player’s performance in Spring Training determine whether a player makes the team or not?

And I know it’s different for certain circumstances. For instance, a veteran like Freddie Freeman doesn’t have to prove anything in Spring Training.

He could literally go 0-50 and he’d still be the starting first baseman on Opening Day. And he could still go on to win an MVP (man, let’s hope so).

But for a lot of players this spring, their personal results on the field do matter. Do you think Adam Duvall cares if he gets a hit or not in a Spring Training game?

So it really bugs me when people want to dismiss stats in Spring Training. You certainly don’t want to overreact to veterans who struggle — or even players who tear it up — in Spring Training.

But these stats can tell us a lot about the player, and to an extent about the team. So we’re going to break down both the pitching and hitting stats for the Atlanta Braves so far this Spring.

And as for the wins and losses, the Braves are looking pretty good there.
