Infielders

While the Atlanta Braves are set in their starting infield, they have little infield depth currently in the upper minors, so when the Braves end up needing to dip into their minor league system, there’s not a ton to find, so adding to that depth is vital.

Kevin Medrano may not be elite defensively, but he’s quite adept at 2B, and his bat is certainly worth a look. He’s been getting dinged up, which has left 2014 as the last time he played 100 games. He definitely hits when he’s healthy, though, not putting up a ton of home runs or steals, but lacing balls into the gaps, as he did this year when he hit .331/.378/.467 with 32 doubles.

Sitting in AAA ever since he came to the Reds from the Mets, Dilson Herrera has never really gotten a chance to show himself at the major league level, with just 87 MLB at bats. He has a very good glove and has shown good contact ability in the minor leagues with gap power, though little home run or stolen base numbers.

The frame on Mitch Nay would give you the idea that he will hit for big power, but he’s yet to clear 10 home runs in a single season. He has excellent plate discipline and can handle third and first. He is still young, just turning 25 in September.

An Auburn grad, Dan Gamache has a prototypical second base profile, with excellent defensive work around the bag, line drive power from the left side, and on base skills. He’s not likely going to win any starting positions away, but he could be a quality depth piece.
