Los Angeles Angels
You could hope that the Angels come to their senses and recognize that Trout truly needs to be traded… but that’s just not likely at all.
Andrew Heaney – Finally healthy for the most part of a MLB season, Heaney put up decent numbers and could be one of those pitchers that sees much better numbers in the NL. Not too mention he would be very cheap as he is still controlled through arbitration. The problem is the Angels will probably be on the lookout for pitching, not looking to trade it.
Zack Cozart – Cozart was linked a little to the Braves last offseason when he was a Free Agent. I could see the slight chance the Braves inquire about his availability this winter if they would like for him to be the teams 3rd baseman or a super utility player for the next season or 2. His first season in LA was injury riddled.
Justin Upton – Yes, free agency is loaded this year, but just wait until Mike Trout hits it in a couple seasons. Unless, the Braves want an old friend back perhaps? Could the Angels look to dump Justin Upton’s contract* this winter and prepare to offer Trout a HUGE contract extension with the money saved? The Braves arguably could have the best outfield in all of baseball if this were to happen. Justin Upton is still a highly touted player as well.
* – Nice as that might sound, JUp has a full no-trade clause, so it would have to be his choice to come to Atlanta if asked. He’s getting $18m in 2019, then $21m, $23m, and $28m in the remaining years of his contract.
