Braves rained out
The Atlanta Braves were rained out of their series finale against the Marlins, which was to be Kevin Gausman‘s debut with the Braves. He is now scheduled to make his Braves debut on Saturday in New York.
The Braves open a series in New York tonight against the Mets. Mike Foltynewicz takes the hill against Mets lefty Jason Vargas at 7:10 pm Eastern.
Atlanta Braves minor league action
The Braves saw a no-hit bid from one of their top pitching prospects key their Wednesday action.
Durham at Gwinnett – postponed
Birmingham 2, Mississippi 1, Game 1; Mississippi 1, Birmingham 0, Game 2 – When the Braves and Barons resumed their game from Tuesday, Tyler Pike took the hill and struggled some, leading to the Braves loss in the first game of the day Wednesday. In the second game, Connor Johnstone, Josh Graham, and Corbin Clous combined for a 7-inning shutout, striking out 7. Cristian Pace went 2-2 in his first AA game.
Charlotte 6, Florida 3, 12 innings – This game went to extra innings scoreless, in large part due to the Fire Frogs’ Ian Anderson tossing 7 2/3 no-hit innings, allowing a single walk and striking out 5 on a tremendous night. He gave way to Justin Kelly, who gave up a run in the 10th yet didn’t give up a hit (thank you, new extra inning rules!) as he tossed 1 2/3 innings with a walk and a strikeout, giving up an unearned run. The Stone Crabs walked off with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 12th inning.
Greensboro at Rome – postponed

Atlanta Braves history on this day
He only played one season for what would become the Braves organization, playing the 1889 season with the Boston Beaneaters, but the presence of Dan Brouthers on the 1889 Boston Beaneaters club allowed them to make a run at the National League title, finishing second with an 83-45 record. Brouthers, one of the biggest men in the game in the 19th century, standing between 6’2″ and 6’3″ tall, won the batting title, hitting .373, driving in 118 runs. He was considered the greatest offensive player of the 19th century. Brouthers passed away on August 2nd, 1932.
That’s it, that’s all for another brilliant day of being an Atlanta Braves fan! We’ll check back in tomorrow!!
