Right after Markakis smokes one to right field, social media exploded!
What a historical Opening Day for the Atlanta Braves. The first ever Opening Day at SunTrust Park, an amount of 40,208 fans showed up to the game, Ozzie Albies and Freddie Freeman hit home runs, Brian Snitker gets ejected, and Nick Markakis hits his first ever walk-off home run! What a freakin day!
In the bottom of the 9th inning — of a tied 5-5 game — Braves veteran outfielder and #4 batter in the lineup, Nick Markakis, explodes a ball deep to right field to win the game. It was a no-doubter too. Once it came off the bat, we knew it was gone!
Braves won 8-5 in game one against their rival the Philadelphia Phillies. What a glorious moment and day for us Braves fans that have been through sooo much within the past few years! We really needed that.
Everyone’s emotions poured out on social media after the homer. It was awesome to see. Many, including myself, didn’t even type words…just letters. Something like “omaosihgaoer;iajsdfhaiheiFHDklfhalksfjh” was seen running down my timeline.
Reactions like these don’t come very often. Especially for us Braves fans, it’s been a while since we’ve been so excited about one game.
So here are the best that I could find. Some celebrities, just fans, some posted by the Braves, some of everything. Hope you enjoy!
